Who We Are
Mandy Gurney from Millpond Children's Sleep Clinic and Zoe Sinclair from Parents Matter have joined together to bring you Daisy Chain.
Mandy Gurney is a registered nurse, midwife, health visitor and infant massage instructor.
During her 20 years working as a health professional with families in the NHS, Mandy saw first-hand the many problems caused by sleep deprivation. This motivated her to set up an NHS children's sleep clinic, which she ran for 5 years. Following the amazing results she saw in the NHS, she went on to co- found Millpond Children's Sleep Clinic in 2000. Millpond was the first private clinic to specialise in babies and children's sleep problems, helping parents in the UK and around the world. Mandy is asked to head sleep seminars and workshops both in the NHS and private sector. She is consulted by the consumer press for expert comment and is the sleep expert for The Supernanny Parenting Forum and the Best Bear website.
Mandy is regularly seen on television. She is co-author of the sleep bible Teach Your Child to Sleep (Hamlyn, 2005), which has sold tens of thousands of copies worldwide. As a mother of two children, Mandy knows only too well how challenging being a parent can be; her first baby suffered from a variety of sleeping and eating problems, which is what ignited her interest in child sleep therapy.
Zoe Sinclair set up Parents Matter over 5 years ago after realising from personal experience that parents in the workplace needed more support. With so much time being spent at work, there leaves little time for parents to source the support they need whether their child is having problems at school, issues with their diet or behavioural problems at home. Bringing support to the workplace proved to be an instant success. Parents Matter successfully organises seminars, telephone consultations and online support for parents and carers in their place of work across the UK.
The parents that we have come into contact with through our respective organisations are hungry for one-to-one advice on a whole range of issues related to their children. At corporate seminars parents are queuing for the opportunity to speak to the expert and during sleep consultations questions are being asked of the sleep therapists which go beyond the realms of sleep. In all settings parents are constantly reiterating how hard it is to find an expert to ask their questions to.
Hence in September 2009 Daisy Chain was born.
